Winter Quilt

I've finished my first block of the "Winter Quilt" block of the month and it's looking quite cute!  As you can see, it's still frosty as can be here!  There have been intermitent power outages with all the frost on the power lines and the trees continue to shed branches.  We went out today and tried knocking frost off what branches we could reach, but just ended up with ice down our necks!

This coming Tuesday, January 28th brings the end of an era at the Buggy Barn-Donna Booth is retiring!  She has been with us since the beginning and it will be so hard to see her go!  If she wasn't being a "little cut up" then she was being a "little sew and so" and she has brought boundless fun, laughter, and friendship along in her wake.
Along with Roxie and Lynda, Donna has always been our Tuesday "charge nurse", so please, if you can, stop by on this coming Tuesday, enjoy a piece of cake and wish Donna well.  She will be missed!

And, yes, we have kits!  This quilt features a garden themed panel designed by one of our fellow Henry Glass designers, Annie Downs.  It's such a cute panel, as I hope you can see from this close up of a block!  This is just the project we need to pull us out of our winter-time blues and have some baskets of sunshine coming our way!

And while I'm on the subject of Annie, I thought I'd share one of her current fabric lines that we have in the shop, Button Tree Lane.  She very cleverly has designed button dots and I love that needle stripe, and the paisley is very cute!

So let us know if need fat quarter packs or yardage
of any of her Button Tree Lane fabrics to go along
    with your kit purchase!

Frosty!

Can't say it's been snowing' and blown' but it sure has been frosty!  It's sure beautiful when the trees are all covered with frost, but then we spend a morning picking up broken branches that can't withstand all that extra weight!  We've been having short little power outages because of all the frost on the power lines, and on Saturday evening we had a bit of excitement when there was a transformer fire just down from our house.  That was quite a light show!  Except for a bit longer power outage, no harm done!

So there still isn't much sledding and or snowboarding going on around here, so if we want to "Live Loud", we'll need to do it in our sewing rooms!  That's probably the safest place for me anyway haha!  I'm not so good trying to stand up on a piece of wood and sliding downhill, fun as that sounds!
And as far as building a snowman, we'll just have to peek out this "Winter Window" that Denise has just finished!  It's pretty darn cute!  (And so's Denise!)  Eveybody keep stitching and keep warm!

Happy New Year!

Hope you all had a great holiday season and are off to a terrific 2014!  At Buggy Barn, we have started the new year off with a whole smorgasbord of new blocks of the month for you to select from!  It will be hard to choose just one!  We love this new one, "Silent Night" which reminds us of the old Red Wagon style of quilts.  It's done with lots of homespun backgrounds and wool appliqués.  It's a keeper!

Then, for the longest time, I've had this "Winter Quilt" on my bucket list and we finally decided there's no time like the present!  Those alternate blocks are 3" finished stars, so we will offer our Buggy Barn crazy star for those of you who, like us, don't want to use templates to make all those stars!  Ours will be scrappy!

We were lucky enough to  have these next two talented sisters and designers here this past year teaching and vending at our outdoor quilt show!  Everyone loves their designs.  First up, is "All Stitched Up", a series of 12 seasonal table mats.  The patterns are only available through a block of the month program and include a specially designed pin.  In addition, each pattern includes an iron on transfer of a special detail: in this first snowman mat, the iron on is the bluebird.

Not to be outdone, sister Bonnie gives us "Bertie's Year", a delightful Robin that changes bonnets with every season!  You can choose to make monthly mats or to make a wallhanging.

We have one block program that is completely machine pieced, "Hampton Ridge" and it's a beauty!  There's just something about it that seems to call my name but Gloria has her name on this one!  These are  my photos from market, so some are not the best, (sorry!) but they get the job done in that they remind me what it is we want to be doing!  It's sad to say but my memory is terribly brief!

We have plans to add other blocks as they become available so be sure to check back! I'm working on a pieced one that will be ready this spring, if all goes according to plan!  These are just the new ones; you can still jump into any that are still being offered.  It's a great time to start those Halloween projects because you can have them done in time for trick or treat!  "Home is Where the Haunt Is" is a darling small wall hanging...here's are a couple blocks from that project for you to consider:

And you've seen the "Missouri Daisy" Quilt that I've been working one in my prievious post.  I just love it!

"Tavern House" is not a block of the month program, but its a great project to use to get together once a month with your friends and a make one block a month and soon you'll be done and have fun doing it!  So many fun projects!  And these aren't even all of them!  How will you ever choose?   Go Here to see all of our block of the month programs.  Let me know which one you decide on!  Wishing you continued happiness this whole year through!
